•Nikon D5100 Nikon’s D5100 is the latest mid-range DSLR from the Japanese giant. It has a 16.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor, 4fps continuous shooting at full resolution, 11 autofocus points, RAW shooting, built in flash and SD card slot. As is the current trend, the D5100 features a 3-inch, side-mounted articulating display and full HD 1080p video recording (with a 30 or 24fps selectable frame rate). Also included are various in-camera special effects (low/high key, miniature effect, colour sketch, selective colour and HDR). The $900 kit includes a standard 18-55mm VR lens (or $800 body only), which will no doubt take the fight to the Canon 600D. We expect an India launch soon, at a price of approximately 45,000.

•Vignon Wine Therometer Storing an expensive bottle of wine is tricky. Most red wines have to be stored between 12 to 16 degrees Celcius while white wines should be stored between 6 to 12 degress Celcius to achieve an optimum taste. Snap on the Vignon wine thermometer to a bottle and it’ll take a few minutes to display the bottle’s temperature on a large circular LCD. The artfully designed piece won’t look out of place even if you decide to leave it on while serving the wine.
